SECAUCUS, N.J. – August 29, 2005 – CIBER Enterprise Solutions, a division of CIBER, Inc. (NYSE: CBR), announced today that it has successfully completed an upgrade of the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Asset Management, Purchasing, and Requisitions and Inventory Control software applications utilizing middle-market ERP products for Secaucus, N.J.-based Goya Foods, America’s largest Hispanic-owned food company.
CIBER provided project management, application consulting, and technical services for the project, in addition to supporting GOYA with corporate-wide strategic visioning and the development of a unique cost analysis program. The upgrade provides a support system that will allow GOYA to measure, monitor and continue expanding its business model. The upgrade will also enable the company to implement additional software modules to further improve GOYA’s reporting and metrics capabilities, and help streamline processes at facilities in several countries.
“CIBER brought the ability to assess our business requirements from a ‘big picture’ perspective. With their support, we were able to more clearly define how our requirements affected our system needs, and then design and implement the system accordingly. That was a major factor in the success of this project,” said David Kinkela, GOYA’s Vice President of Information Technology. “From their strategic visioning services, to the development of a cost analysis program, to their ability to support us in all facets of the upgrade process, CIBER helped ensure that the project was successful, and that GOYA is well positioned for future initiatives.”
As part of the project, CIBER developed a Cost Analysis “CIBER Gem,” a fixed-price reusable software solution that provides GOYA with actual cost information for goods purchased, as well as detailed information available by company, location, item cost, and multiple add-on costs. The program tracks all costs associated with an item, an important element for companies like GOYA which import much of their product and incur broker fees, freight charges, custom charges, taxes and other add-ons. The program also allows GOYA to quickly verify payment of prior invoices for each product, ensuring that all charges and payments are accurate.
“We are very pleased that we were able to support GOYA by providing the business and system alignment services that will allow them to more easily monitor and manage their successful operation,” said Paul Robson, Vice President of CIBER Enterprise Solutions. “Taking the cost analysis enhancement from GOYA’s concept to completion was an excellent opportunity to align a technology solution to a business imperative, and provide a tool to address GOYA's requirements.”
Goya Foods was founded by Don Prudencio and Carolina Unanue, Spanish immigrants to the U.S., in 1936. What began as a single store-front in lower Manhattan has grown to employ more than 2,500 workers in several countries around the world. GOYA offers more than 1,200 products under its own label, and was the first Hispanic company to be included in the Smithsonian’s Museum of American History.
