Process Automation for the Procurement of Direct Materials
This paper will present an analysis of a plan-driven procurement process for direct
materials. This analysis includes not only the activities and steps in such a process,
but also the data sets associated with each activity. Automation of this process will be
explored to highlight where an organization can find process improvements that lead to
positive impact on the bottom line. Several recent studies are referenced to identify the
benefits companies have obtained by automating the plan-driven direct procurement
process. Purchasing executives can use this information to analyze their own direct
material procurement processes to determine what benefits might be obtained.

Rapid Retail® Ready-to-Run
Today’s retailer needs to be agile to remain competitive. SAP™ for Retail is the premier ERP solution that not only allows retailers to be agile, but affords them the ability to gain competitive advantage. However, for most mid-market retailers, finding available capital and human resources to successfully implement a retail ERP system can be problematic. Yet, failing to do so may mean falling behind the competition. To assist mid-market retailers and leverage the power of SAP for Retail, CIBER has created a turnkey offering, Rapid Retail® Ready-to-Run (R2R).
CIBER created R2R so mid-market retailers can utilize SAP for Retail with minimal up-front capital and human resource investment. R2R combines software, hardware, implementation services, education, hosting and ongoing support into a single turnkey solution. R2R enables you to work with a sole vendor, CIBER, for a single monthly fee. This full lifecycle solution enables you to invest your capital in other strategic initiatives, such as new store openings, while still leveraging the power of SAP for Retail. This retail-specific package solution is born from almost 30 years of CIBER retail expertise and insight.
Rapid Retail Ready-to-Run
R2R reduces the risk, complexity, time, and cost of a retail ERP implementation. This package enables you to streamline your business processes, improve efficiencies, minimize system downtime and reduce the total cost of ownership associated with your software implementation. A highly skilled CIBER team will train your business users to be proficient on the SAP for Retail solution in a short period of time. We utilize our Rapid Retail preconfigured template to train your organization on SAP Best Practices for Retail. CIBER then hosts, maintains, and supports your SAP system remotely at one of our three world-class hosting centers in the U.S. This approach allows our mid-market clients to implement a robust SAP for Retail solution, utilizing best practices, with minimal disruption to your business.
R2R combines a number of CIBER’s core competencies into a single solution, these include:
- Rapid Retail (CIBER’s SAP certified pre-configured template of retail best practices)
- Implementation Services
- Hosting
- Education and Training
- Post-production Support
- Hardware
The scope of the R2R is:
- Merchandising
- Supply Chain Planning
- Supply Chain Execution
- Store Management
- Financial Management
Implementation
Over the course of the four to five month implementation, CIBER retail consultants will:
- Install and configure your SAP for Retail solution
- Train your business users on SAP for Retail
- Support data migration into the SAP system
- Interface the SAP system to a number of your existing systems
- Create and modify system reports and forms to your needs
Benefits
R2R :
