In any company that has some history, there are typical IT systems that were used for transaction processing or otherwise that have now become the ‘legacy’ system. With SOA and web services, there is always that debate of modernization of legacy, renewal of legacy, retirement, etc. The debate goes on and on.

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT)
CIBER was selected by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to upgrade and replace its existing proprietary and aging traffic surveillance and control system at Hanging Lake Tunnel. CIBER built the new system using off-the-shelf components to provide greater flexibility and cost control along with easier maintenance support and future enhancements. Unlike the original system, the new system provides an open, extendable framework that provides CDOT with a solution to today’s operational need and effectively positions CDOT for the future.
