Agile Development Brings Benefits in Tough Financial Times
Agile software development has become a mainstream practice that
can reduce cost and accelerate revenue compared to traditional phased
development methods. When the economy is in turmoil and budgets
are shrinking, Agile can help an organization get more for every dollar of
development spending. Experienced Agile teams are more productive than
traditional development teams, resulting in more efficient use of people,
the most expensive element of software development. An Agile Enterprise
can gain significant competitive advantage by getting products to market
sooner. All of these advantages can be explained in terms of Agile principles
and practices. Experienced Agile Coaches can help ensure success when
implementing Agile.

Nick Gledich — Chief Operating Officer, Orange County Public Schools

CIBER’s expertise will help us make a seamless switch to the new program, so we can continue to provide the greatest value and efficiency for students and their families.”
Eric Boutwell — Chief Information Officer, San Francisco Unified School District
“Our goals in creating a web portal were to provide an easy-to-use, single point of access to the City’s information and services, to improve the site’s ease of use for the public, to lower maintenance costs for City web publishers, and—most importantly—to strengthen the sense of community and add value for the City’s residents via the web portal. CIBER helped us reach those goals on time and on budget.”
Randy Kolb — Information Services Director, City of Eugene. OR

CIBER Application Outsourcing Client Case Studies by Industry
Financial Services Industry: Overcoming Security Challenges
CIBER was able to assist a recent client in challenges to grow and re-shape its business and while maintaining very high security standards. CIBER provided this client with a wide range of security operations services using the latest operationally mature security methods.
Food Service Industry: World Class Legacy Support
CIBER provided an IT solutions forecast to reduce the client’s IT costs by nearly 40 percent over two years. CIBER provides help desk outsourcing that administers an automatic call distribution service. This service also receives records and resolves trouble calls, which number approximately 1,000 per month for this client. CIBER also hosts, maintains and supports their client’s Global Technology Center (GTC).
Document Processing Industry: Rapid Cost Efficiencies
CIBER provided 24x7 application management services to a client dealing with over 50 applications being supported by multiple vendors. The client reported year-over-year cost reduction, increased service levels, more measureable service levels and increased customer satisfaction.
Pharmaceutical Industry: Process Modernization
This client needed to centralize the Web application development for its 75+ brand websites. CIBER assumed responsibility for all Web application development and as a result of CIBER’s application outsourcing efforts, the division has decreased cost and time-to-market for campaigns. The client also enabled seamless integration with partners, and improved campaign targeting and personalization.
Retail Industry: Comprehensive IT Management
CIBER was able to provide Web support for a client that generated the majority of their business from their company website. Due to their corporate location, our client found it difficult to attract and retain adequate staff to provide a state-of-the-art-Internet presence. CIBER provided multiple, services freeing-up their subject matter experts to focus on business and mission-critical activities.
Manufacturing Industry: Expert ERP Transition
CIBER recently helped a client integrate their business data and processes that resided in multiple disparate IT systems throughout the company. CIBER provided software application outsourcing services while their legacy computing systems migrated to an SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
Healthcare Industry: Reengineering with Vertical Expertise
CIBER was able to help this multi-billion-dollar client refocus their IT team, which had been increasingly consumed with maintaining legacy systems and as a result was unable to focus on creating new, innovative solutions. CIBER provided support for the Legacy Membership environment, and 24x7 support of their applications. CIBER currently provides 24x7 support for their data warehouse systems, and provides production maintenance. As a result of this client’s relationship with CIBER, production support costs lowered, functionality of existing applications increased and the client can deploy critical IT staff to new applications.
Entertainment Industry: Complex Global and Local Solutions
Technical problems resulted in a much – needed legacy systems upgrade for a recent CIBER client. CIBER was able to offer an on-site, near-shore and off-shore outsourcing contract for development, operations, support and maintenance of more than 65 systems. This ensured that the client’s core technology team focused on innovation and emerging systems.
Services Industry: Full Life Cycle Management
This client had been unsuccessful in outsourcing with another vendor. Upon engagement with CIBER the client addressed a need for Production Support and Application Development. CIBER Application Outsourcing Methodology rapidly provided improvements in quality by providing full life-cycle application development.
Technical Publishing Industry: Replicating and Advancing Current Systems
A client recently engaged CIBER to mirror, convert and transition their previous system to run as a stand-alone application. CIBER was able to increase online availability by 23.5% and reduce customer operating costs.
Non-profit/Membership Organization: Unsurpassed Testing & Quality Assurance
Our client, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, was looking to reduce support costs through an application outsourcing model. The client was discouraged by the options of offshore with lengthy ramp-up and minimal local accountability, and onshore with local accountability but expensive cost. CIBER presented a distributed delivery model and was able to provide local accountability with a lower cost of delivery. CIBER ultimately saved the client 1,336 man-hours annually in addition to the quality improvements achieved by automating their collections of email addresses and other information from state offices.
