NAIT Chooses CIBER for PeopleSoft Re-Implementation

NAIT uses PeopleSoft for its HRMS, Financials and Student Administrations systems, and has been a CIBER client since 1999.

NAIT originally implemented PeopleSoft Student Administration release 7.0 in February 1999. To meet their business needs for functionality not provided by the vanilla product, the Institute heavily modified and customized the software.

Since 1999, the Institute has kept the product current, upgrading to release 7.02 in February 2000 and to release 7.6 starting in July 2000. The Institute’s upgrade to 7.6 was actually a re-implementation, as the modifications and customizations made during the implementation of previous versions were becoming costly to repeat, and were less necessary with the additional functionality available with the new release. NAIT went live on February 20, 2001 with a minimally customized version of release 7.6.7 of Student Administration.

The objectives of the re-implementation were:

• Reduce the extent of customizations currently in place by taking advantage of the latest PeopleSoft functionality
• Reduce the number of customizations by changing the current business processes
• Ensure that future upgrades can be performed with relative ease
• Requirements definition (fit/gap)

CIBER consultants successfully helped NAIT:

• Analyze the existing customizations against the current requirements and functionality delivered by the new release;
• Apply necessary customizations to new release
• Support the upgrade process
• Update end user manuals

NAIT is currently using PeopleSoft Financials release 7.5. During the implementation of the Financials system, CIBER was engaged to implement Encumbrance processing and to replace a customized GL interface with delivered processes.

The stated objectives were realized and this phase of the project was also completed on schedule and within budget. In all of its projects with NAIT, CIBER has helped the Institute meet its project objectives on time and within budget.
